[ Rolls his eyes again but takes the cigarette from John so he can take a drag. Oof, that feels good. ]

Yeah, tell me about it. [ Smoke wafts from his lips as he talks. ] I mean it's not all that bad. Sucking dick, I mean. [ Not the worst thing this place had him do. Then again, he's already exploring his sexuality anyway, so. ]

Guess you had to let all that pent up desire out with not being able to bang your girl.

[ rogue, he means. and that's when he slowly looks over to bobby there. takes the cigarette back because, it's his, and takes another long drag from it. ]

Guess that's one way of looking at it.

[ Pauses, watches John take a long drag, then it kind of clicks. ]

Wait, you banged her? [ To be fair, he shouldn't be surprised. If she was really here before, chances are pretty high they did. Look at him banging younger Magneto, for instance. ]

[ this was... four years ago. a lot has changed for him since then. a lot of people have come and gone, too. ]

[ If this was Bobby upon arrival or even Bobby back home while he's still actively dating her, he would've been pissed. But as it is, he just snorts back a laugh. ]

[ taking another drag for himself, he once again holds it out for bobby to take, turning his attention to the fiery kitten there and, closing his fingers into a pinch, snuffs the little thing out. ]

[ Bobby takes the cigarette again and does another drag, this time longer. So good. He watches John snuff out the little fire kitty before returning the cig. ]

Congrats for accomplishing something I didn't.

[ If Bobby was crass, he would've asked him how it was but, not his style, bro. ]

[ huff there on his lips, he looks ahead, letting the cigarette dangle there between fingers close to his lips. ]

I've accomplished a lot you haven't. Take you forever to get anywhere even close.

[ He smiles and leans back on the couch; the effects of the cigarette now starting to make him feel slightly lightheaded but in a good way. ]

Bet you have, yeah. [ And he means that genuinely, having no desire to compete with John. ] Care to share some?

[ he says that rather pointedly, glancing over to him. ]

[ That gets him blinking. ]

Uh, I'm not aware we're in a competition like that. [ Then again, everything about their relationship seems like a competition for John so is he even surprised? ]

[ it’s said rather nonchalantly, mind you. john tends to have a way of just saying shit to rile others up after all. ]

[ Rolls his eyes because what kind of elementary school reasoning is that. ]

Our powers don't define our relationships, John. If I can produce flames, you'd be my best friend?

[ They were, once. ]

[ how dare you even think that, bobby drake. ]

[bobsicle]

[ It was theoretical, but okay. If he's not a little high now, he'll be dragging his hands on his face. ]

Okay, sure. [ He reaches out for the cigarette again. He needs to get more high for this. ] Whatever. You're the better fuck. I'm just here to survive.

[ Bobby himself doesn't even think of his performance in sex or if he was good or anything. ]

[ letting him take the smoke, he eyes him. quiet. lounging there on the expansive couch before he licks over his lips. glances off. ]

Can I make a suggestion?

[ he doesn't wait to continue. ]

You gotta lighten up more. If it's easy for me to get to you, you're not gonna do well here.

[ He takes the cig and does a long drag from it. Yeah, that's good. At this point, he has a small smile on his face. ]

So, is this you testing me so I can do well here?

[ sort of. deep down, john's a sensitive little shit. ]

[ And because he's properly trying to get high, Bobby just... chuckles. ]

Sure, whatever you say. This coming from the guy who always sees me as competition.

Don't feel so special. I see everyone as competition.

Alright, I'm sure that's a pretty healthy mindset.

[ For the right reasons, yes. ]

Who else do you see as competition, then?

[fireshow]

Everyone.

[ shifting some, he lays down on the couch then, head propped against the armrest, finishing off the rest of the cigarette as he stares up to the ceiling. ]

I'm secretly insecure and always waiting for people to leave me.

[bobsicle]

[ Maybe it's his head swimming, but did he hear that right? Frowning, Bobby glances at John as he lays down on the couch, his back still comfortably leaning against the leather. ]

John? [ Pauses, still surprised he'd admit this. ] Hey. [ Places a gentle hand on the other's leg. ]

[fireshow]

What?

[ he doesn't bother to move his leg nor look over to the other. instead, he focuses on the smoke swirling above him from the tip of his nearly done cigarette. ]

[bobsicle]

[ Blue eyes never leaving John, Bobby's gaze turns softer, if not wistful. His voice, too, turns gentler, if not also laced with longing. ]

I never left you. [ It's quiet, almost like a whisper, but it's loud enough for both of them to hear. ] Even with everything that happened, I didn't leave. [ Never left him to die in Alcatraz. Never left all those happy memories in his mind. ]
