[ He pauses for a few moments, considering what to say. ]

Be a man who is attracted to other men without any fear of repercussions. That fear drove me to hate myself. I'm not that person anymore.

[ Ah yes, he does have an inkling that this might be it. ]

Ah, yeah, I imagine it's very different during your time.

[ To be fair, things aren't any better during his, especially when you grow up with a conservative family like he did, but it's a step forward, at least. ]

Sorry to hear this. At least, even if this place isn't the most ideal, we can be ourselves here. Free to love and like whoever we want.

It is different, yes. I'm sure the same can be said for other worlds too.

[ He was told that things get better in the future, but Thomas imagined that some people still held bigoted views. ]

You don't need to apologise, but I do appreciate the kindness, Bobby. I'm glad that you can also be yourself. It should be like that for everyone.

No worries, Thomas. It should be, yeah.

[ There's a pause on his end as he mulls over the things he can say. He trusts Thomas, though, so he just goes ahead with it. ]

We should all be able to be ourselves. Sadly we can't be like that where I came from. As mutants, I mean.

[notfoul]

I'm sorry to hear that. I can understand, having to hide who I was. [ A pause. ] Is that how you found the other mutuants, like John?

[bobsicle]

Basically, yeah. We found a community for us. A school, actually, where we don't have to hide who we are anymore.

[ The Institute is more than a community or a school for most of them, actually. It's a home. ]

[notfoul]

That sounds like a wonderful place to be in. I'm glad for you, Bobby. For you and anyone like you.

[bobsicle]

[ The smile on his lips certainly carries over to his voice when he speaks. ]

Thanks, Thomas! It's really wonderful, yeah. Wish you can see it. Maybe someday if these memories pop up again, you'll be able to see it from my own.

[ That'd be better instead of traumatic experiences like his fight with John. ]

It would be a nice change for some pleasant memories to be shared with each other. Maybe if we shout it out loud enough, the ones in charge will hear.

[ He chuckles softly. ]

Maybe you could describe it to me someday. I could tell you about the household I live in back home.

[bobsicle]

[ Bobby also chuckles at Thomas' suggestion. ]

Might be worth a shot. Not that I expect them to actually listen, but hey we'll never find out if we don't try.

[ There's a bit of enthusiasm to his voice. ] But yeah, sure! I'll definitely do that. And I can't wait for you to also describe the household you lived in. Must be nice.

It is a beautiful home. I can tell you more about in person - if I could draw, I'd sketch it but I'm afraid I don't have the talent for that.

[ He laughs, amused at himself. ]

Would you like to meet up at the Neptune Lounge someday soon?

[ Bobby also laughs, finding Thomas' own to be contagious. He nods, though, at the other man's question. ]

Sure, I'd love to. Maybe you'll be able to describe to me your house then.

I'll be able to tell you about in extreme detail. Let me know when you're free and I'll reserve a table for us.

[bobsicle]

[ He smiles through the feed. ] I'll be sure to let you know.
